Lime Pointing Course (Half Day)

Description

This half-day course will introduce you to the basics of lime pointing. Hosted by our own Phil Brown, the day will start with an introduction to lime and its use, plus practical demonstrations and hands-on training for application and finishing. There will be plenty of time for Q&A throughout the day, and open discussion is encouraged.

Course Overview

Demonstrations & hands-on sessions include:

• Lime types, the case for them and their application
• The lime cycle
• Choosing the correct tools and practical tips
• Preparing the joints
• Sands and mixing
• Applying the mortar into the joint & finishing
• Curing and aftercare
• Discussion / Q&A

PPE, tools and materials are provided. Those attending should wear suitable clothing and footwear, including warmer layers for spring, autumn and winter courses. In addition, all participants will receive a comprehensive literature pack and follow-up support if needed. Finally, if you have questions regarding a specific project, please bring any photos you might have to help us advise you.

This course is ideal for contractors, building professionals, specifiers or homeowners getting started with pointing with lime.

Course Instructor – Phil Brown

Phil Brown is our founder and Managing Director. Phil was a builder for many years before founding Cornish Lime and has over 30 years of experience working with lime-based products.

Location & Time

This course is held onsite at Cornish Lime, Old Callywith Road, Bodmin, Cornwall, PL31 2DZ, from 9 am to 12:30 pm. Please arrive ten minutes early to check-in. Limited spaces are available, with a maximum of 10 participants per course. Multiple dates are available for booking online throughout the year.
