Cornish Lime goes to the Channel Islands

Phil Brown from Cornish Lime and Master Plasterer Sean Wheatley are heading to Jersey to teach a Lime Mortars and Plasters Masterclass on the 2nd of May 2025.

Hosted by the Jersey Building Preservation Trust across two sites, the one-day course will draw on Phil and Sean’s extensive experience within the industry. The day will begin with an informal talk, real-world examples, and questions from attendees’ projects answered before practical afternoon demonstrations.

About the course leaders and hosts

As the founder of Cornish Lime and with over 50 years within the construction industry, Phil’s knowledge spans far and wide, with building restoration and conservation, lime pointing, and rendering sitting well within his areas of expertise. Phil attended a post-graduate in Building Conservation from Plymouth University and has travelled extensively throughout his career, advising on hundreds of projects worldwide.

Sean has been a plasterer since 1981, and has trained in traditional methods and decorative plasterwork. In 2022, he was accepted as a Master Plasterer by The Worshipfull Company of Plaisterers, and teaches courses for The Society For The Protection Of Ancient Buildings (SPAB), Royal Institution of Chartered Surveyors (RICS), and Cornish Lime.

Providing skills training to those interested in restoring historic buildings, The Jersey Building Preservation Trust allows course attendees to build experience and insights from respected professionals across the Channel Islands and mainland UK.
