Hi. We have recently moved into a house which is part cobb and lime plastered. The exterior of the house has been painted previously with a normal weathershield exterior paint. When we come to repaint it should we change to a breathable paint or is it sort of too late now, if you see what I mean!?
Also what is the best product to use to repair and external crack in the wall?
Many thanks
Elaine
Thanks for getting in touch. Best practice is to remove the existing exterior paint. However, Beeck Rensoil could be applied over the existing paint (providing its sound) and it wont seal the surface any further, so whilst not solving the issue it wont worsen it.
Please let us know if you needed further guidance.

The best option would be to remove the existing paint that’s on the exterior. Please let us know if we can be of further help.
