Hi, I live in a Grade 2 listed cottage which has previously been painted with masonry paint and the lime mortar needs replacing as it’s soaking on most brick panels (see attached pictures). Also, a previous builder (prior to me buying) has used expanding foam and silicon sealer to seal between bricks and timber which needs to be removed. As I will be doing the work myself, can I please ask what months of the year is best to do this so the mortar sets properly and what precautions / protection should I use – I have heard of draping hessian. Location is Herefordshire.
Thank you for getting in touch. Generally Spring and Summer are the best in terms of conditions. Please have a look through our guide: https://cornishlime.co.uk/application-guides/apply-three-coat-lime-render/
