Dealing with damp on lime washed wall

We have an external north facing wall on our 500 year old stone cottage. It is lime washed (the last time being May 2020) Heavy rain causes a damp patch about 3 metres up with what I assume is green mould soon after. Can I paint Beeck’s SP Plus on it to seal it, or is there a better approach?

Hi Steve, you won’t be able to limewash over S P Plus as there’s not enough absorbency for the limewash to work properly.
If you want to discuss in further detail please give us a call on 01208 79779 and we can run through the options with you.

Thanks for the reply. Once SP Plus is on the wall, can we lime wash over it?

Thank you for getting in touch.

S P Plus could be used to try and help shed water and prevent it from ingression into the wall. However, as it is only as good as the surface it is applied too, this mould would need to be cleaned back and removed along with any loose paint.  Please note that if the growth is occurring from within the wall or underlying paint, there is always a risk that this staining can reoccur.  If you need further assistance please don’t hesitate to get in touch.
