Improving Breathability for a Period Townhouse

About the Property

12 St Fimbarrus Road is a period terraced townhouse situated in the Historic Port of Fowey.

Issues

This property was suffering from damp problems on the front elevation, mainly due to the stonework being clad in non-breathable cement render applications and non-breathable paints.

Solutions and Materials

To maintain the breathability of the building we removed the existing render and paint applications, then using a Lime mortar we introduced a 3-coat Lime render to the exposed stonework. This was followed by the introduction of a 4-stage Beeck Mineral Paint System.

The materials we used for the Lime render were NHL 2, CLS 28 & horsehair and NHL2, CLS 35 & fibre glass mesh.
