We have two training days approaching
Whilst winter is not the optimum time for working with lime, we have put together a list of tips that will hopefully help.
With the launch of Cornerstone, our new range of dry, ready mixed breathable mortars, we would like to offer you a brand new CPD:
Cornish Lime – trusted lime experts and the largest manufacturer and supplier of lime products in the country – has developed a new bespoke range of traditional and contemporary dry-mix mortars.
Last year we started a building a custom factory on our site here in Bodmin, Cornwall with the aim of offering new products and services including a range of dry, bagged ready mixed hydraulic lime mortars and a wide range of kiln dried sands in volume quantities.
The factory is now fully live and has begun manufacturing our new range of Cornerstone Drymix mortars. Cornerstone now includes Drymix, Promix and Newbuild ranges each appropriate for different uses. Our in-house Engineers, Surveyors and Chemists are rapidly expanding the Cornerstone range to make it suitable for all kinds of building work whether it be restoration or contemporary consruction. Please get in touch if you have any queries or want to learn more about what this new plant now allows us to offer.
We are delighted to announce that we have been assessed and certified as having met the requirements of ISO9001 for the Manufacture & Supply of Non-Hydraulic Lime Putty and the supply of Hydraulic Limes.
We will be holding a full day practical lime rendering and plastering day various dates this year. Your tutors for the day will be Phil Brown and Viv Stratton. Viv is something of a legend in the County and will be known by many a builder who has passed through the building department at Cornwall College in Camborne in the last thirty years. A qualified plasterer himself he has run plastering courses at Cornwall College where he lectured on Construction and Civil Engineering for 30 years. Phil Brown is the MD of the Cornish Lime Company.
We are now offering a new CPD talk devoted to understanding mineral paints and their use both inside and out on old and new build. True mineral paints offer breathability and long life. With paint companies offering many different claims our presentation and demonstration will give you the information to allow you to evaluate which paint to specify on different backgrounds. The information provided will help you to avoid compromising new wall build ups and renovation schemes with inappropriate finishes.
We are delighted to have won the Duke of Cornwall's 2012 award for promoting traditional skills and developing business skills in young people in the area.
Over a period of several months Hadlow Tower has been restored by Paye Stonework using our Prompt cement.
Cornish Lime were pleased to be able to provide lime training at The Old Duchy Palace in Lostwithiel with the support of the Princes Regeneration Trust and Carrek Historic Building Conservation. The events ran on the 2nd and 9th November and were open to anyone who would like to attend. The two days training were fantastically successful and we had some great feedback. Special thanks to the guys from the Princes Regeneration Trust who helped to organise these days.
