Masonary paint

Posted By: Myri Roche

Hi,
I need to repaint a modern (mid 1980s) house over existing masonry paint, what type/brand I have no idea as it is a second hand house. The rest of the wall construction from the outside in is concrete render, concrete brick construction with internal polystyrene wall insulation, plasterboard and modern internal plaster. I'm aware that using a breathable paint will probably make no difference to the breathablity of wall at this stage but I wanted to use a non-damaging to the environment paint in its after use life/natural non-toxic to soil paint, if that makes sense. Can you suggest one that is functionally suitable and that can adhere to existing masonry paint without having to remove it first?

Thank you!

    Good Morning

In terms of breathability the paint will offer very little due to the existing build up of coatings, however an ecological paint is still fine to use.

For external paint the brand we would advise is Beeck and the specific paint we would recommend is Beeck Renosil, which is designed to work on bare renders and existing paints.

If you would like more detailed information regarding the application please give us a call on 01208 79779.

    Kind Regards

    Adam
