Internal lime plaster

Posted By: Darren Beech

We have some damp on an internal wall. We have removed the cement render that was over the stone work. Some stone work has been previously replaced with some concrete blocks. Can we render over these with lime render? Or do they need to be replaced with stone? Will the lime and concrete react and cause problems in the future?

Thanks.

    Hi Darren

Lime render can be applied to concrete block as long as its free from any coatings. It works absolutely fine on dense concrete block but does not work on lightweight block.

There should be no reaction, they are both based on the same raw material - limestone.
